On Aerobic Monday

Whew … an interesting weather weekend for Cincinnati. From Friday’s sunny and pleasant day, to Saturday’s sunny, very warm, and muggy, to Sunday’s rains. Then again, that’s April … and for us in the northern hemisphere, April is generally better than March.

How was the weather in your area? What did you do this weekend? Come on now – tell us something.

Our weekend involved an evening of ballroom, taking long walks, working Sunday, ushering at church, attending a wedding, and Quick Step formation practice. Meanwhile, I need to explain Quick Step.

For those remembering a geography trivia question in the last Opinions in the Shorts, see Stamford, go north, south, east, and west, from Stamford Connecticut (or Connecticut’s southwestern corner). For my standpoint, List of X was also correct – and as I responded to him, the person who first asked me the question many years ago included “population center” in the question. X – how did you determine your answer?

On Piggy Monday

Good weather came upon Cincinnati this weekend. Warm, pleasant temperatures, blue skies, and mild breezes. Perfect for the spring cleaning in the yard … but hey … no more of that for me!

How was your weather? What did you do this weekend?

Ours included a dance, work, a neighborhood wine event, and Quick Step formation practice. Looking ahead, I’m hoping for a full week of posting.

Meals: The Musical returns this week. Act 2 features Fruits. Song titles must include fruit(s) or any nutritional fruit in the song title. There are many choices available, so hopefully last week’s record of 5 rejection buzzers won’t be topped. Warning: The producer considers tomatoes as a vegetable.

On No-Ducking Monday

Greetings … so how was your weekend?

How about your weather? Cincinnati started cold zero F (-17 C), but hey hey hey, Sunday’s temp climbed to mid-30s (2 C). Then again, I know some of you are more northern than I.

Our weekend centered around the ballroom. Our tango formation attended a competition as an exhibition. All considered, we did OK … but I enjoyed watching a variety of individual competitors. Some of you ladies would have enjoyed the gowns. Simply wow … and at the exhibits I noticed that dresses priced over $4K!

After a hectic day, we took Saturday night to finally watch the Kennedy Center Honors show. That was awesome entertainment. Did you see it?

On Monday Weiners

Here’s a surprise – A full weekend for us of ballroom, a special dance competition, a birthday party, and we saw the movie The Trip to Italy, which wasn’t my cup of tea but the scenery and the food looked fabulous. The dance competition was so special, I should do a post on it. The handbell choir played again this weekend, and 1 or 2 people noticed I wasn’t playing, thus said something. For those interested, here’s their piece.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends for their Monday celebration. Don’t forget to search Trash Can Turkey on YouTube because that’s how Catherine’s (@Always a Redhead) family cooks their turkey. Fascinating, especially because I never heard of this.

Life: The Musical returns this week with Act 10 being all about Play … after all, Act 9 featured Work. So get your songs ready with any of the following in the title: Play, Playing, Fun (not funny), OR any fun activity. Be careful because some word as Play and Playing can be used in situations that aren’t fun, in which the producer could be a bit testy. Curtain time is this Wednesday, 9:30 PM (Eastern US).

To send you into the week with a smile, here’s a local news report about an annual Cincinnati event that occurred in September. Besides, I imagine somebody somewhere  celebrated Octoberfest this past weekend. I love this because I can see two of the dogs of friends in our new neighborhood doing this … especially with me at one end. Enjoy and have a good week.

On Sleeping Dogs

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. What did you do? Did the weather cooperated by providing a chance to see the Super Moon? We had hot and muggy, and late afternoon Sunday delivered storms and needed rain … which also means a few days ahead will be uncharacteristic fall-like conditions.

My wife went away for the weekend with her sister and dad to visit our niece, who is doing an internship in Michigan. Correct, I was never invited. Nonetheless, I stayed busy with an evening of ballroom (it’s good to dance with others), many hours with hoses and watering, hosted a friend for dinner before we went to my brewer neighbor, attended a British car show, watched baseball, and even prepared the next Saturday Morning Cartoon post.

The majority of cars at the British car show were vintage … that is from the 1970s and earlier. You know the names: MG, Rolls Royce, Austin Heeley, Jaguar, Triumph, Mini Cooper, Morgan, Sunbeam, Lotus, and a few others. Plus, attending was a good way to support two friends in that club.

Thanks for the many inquiries about my eye. Although the problem still exists, the retina specialist saw vast improvement – that is, the differences he sees in my eye over 4-5 weeks usually takes 2-3 months … so we will continue doing what we’ve been doing  – nothing.  I visit my primary physician on Monday for additional consultation.

Life: The Musical returns this week. Act 7 features songs with any of the following words in the title: school, student, or teacher. The curtain goes up on Wednesday, 9:30 pm (Eastern US). Hopefully we can improve from the numerous rejections in Act 6. 😉
