On Thanksgiving 2019

Thanksgiving is a major holiday in the US, so many families will gather for a bountiful meal.

Thanksgiving is a day that begins the holiday season.

Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate the harvest.

Thanksgiving is a day of happiness and gratitude.

Thanksgiving is a special day to give thanks – to consider our blessings. Although that is something that people (including me) should do more often. Then again, others struggle on this day for a variety of reasons: especially loneliness and health. Let us be thankful for our blessings and keep the troubled in our hearts.

With this being my last Thanksgiving in my little corner of the world, I am thankful for the many good people I’ve encountered on these pages. I feel very blessed – and an extra special thank you to my regulars today and in the past.

A Thanksgiving blessing to all!

On Thanksgiving 2017

Today (Thursday 23 November 2017) we in the USA celebrate Thanksgiving – a day of fun, feast, family, and fellowship. Bountiful Thanksgiving wishes to all.

On this day, I want to give thanks for a few things … OK … just a dozen.

I’m thankful for WordPress providing a platform for linking me to others across the world.

I’m thankful for encountering so many bloggers from across the globe who reinforce my belief that the majority of humanity is good. After all, goodness does not have boundaries.

I’m thankful for YouTube as a platform for everything and anything video, which allows me to share so much with others.

I’m thankful for first responders, caretakers, volunteers, and support staff who are there for the marginalized in any way: the disabled, the disenfranchised, the downtrodden, the abused, the poor, the suffering, the oppressed, and more.

I’m thankful for the good people I’ve encountered in life through work, neighborhood, church, community, school, events, and more because being around positive people is essential for a good life.

I’m thankful for my senses that allow me to experience the grand nature of creation.

I’m thankful for the ability to learn because the byproduct of learning differentiates stupidity, ignorance, and knowing.

I’m thankful for getting older because I am wiser than ever – therefore I don’t believe in going backwards.

I’m thankful for my Italian roots – and the attraction it gives me to a land afar.

I’m thankful for my wife – for her love, trust, support, companionship, and more for 42+ years of courtship and marriage.

I’m thankful for the existence of joy, happiness, and smiles – along with the many ways they can be attained.

I’m thankful that I don’t get tired of this video because it speaks volume to me about my belief in people.

On Thanksgiving 2016

After an election process that has been too long, too costly, and too damn goofy, the election has tested our spirits and patience. While some are upset, others gloat. While some cautiously watch, some don’t worry – even though they are leery.

My Thanksgiving wish for 2016 is that everyone enjoy the gathering. Don’t talk politics, but enjoy the company. Don’t talk politics, but enjoy the food and beverages. Don’t talk politics, but enjoy laughter. Don’t talk politics, but enjoy the little things. Don’t talk politics, but be thankful for all the good people in the world. Don’t talk politics, so smile and be kind – after all, you probably have a lot to be thankful for.

Safe travels for those who will spend time on the road. To those who don’t have family gatherings, peace to you. Happy Thanksgiving … and I’m thankful for all the good people I’ve encountered on my little corner of the world.

There’s got to be a song for you below. Which did you pick? …. and you can have more than one. 🙂

On Thanksgiving 2013

To us in the USA, Thursday is Thanksgiving, which has been a Federal holiday since 1863. Although it’s associated with time with family, bountiful feasts, football, and parades, it’s also a time for giving thanks.

There is much for which to be thankful, and many times many of us tend to forget the simple things as food to eat, shelter, clean water, warmth, clothing, and many more. Although it’s a difficult time for our family, I took a little time to put together a simple list for me.

I’m thankful for …

… what should be an exhaustive list

… having a good, kind, gentile, and gracious mother-in-law

… the beautiful full moons, but also when its absence accentuates the stars

… for the ability to pick good friends

… the many caregivers

… the ability to travel

… thinkers and those willing to learn

… volunteers and community agencies reaching out to help others

… all the daily conveniences we take for granted

… those who work to make life safe

… customer service employees who really try to be helpful

… growing up in a small town when small towns were still vibrant

… being about to enjoy many types of music

… the many positives my wife brings to my life

… a supplement to help those with lactose intolerance

… the ways people step forward to help others in need

… college and universities, especially Bowling Green State University, the University of Cincinnati, and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College

… fresh herbs that enhance the meal

… having relatives in Europe

… soft toilet paper

… the grocery store clerks who smile

… the internet being a great learning tool

… anything that makes me smile and/or laugh

… pets as we miss ours

… freedom

… all the ways bloggers share their passions and skills

… the many nice bloggers I encounter as they reinforce my belief that the majority of people in the world are good

… WordPress and its community

… being about to write Happy Thanksgiving to all

I’m thankful for The Piano Guys.

On Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving Day … the day of thanks. The list of things to be thankful is lengthy when analyzing one’s life: family, friends, health, and the abilities that differentiate each of us into tools that others use. We can also look at the basic needs as food, shelter, and water … or the many thanks revolving around one’s faith … or even the variety of possessions each of us have … and in many cases, actually more than we need.

Then there are the fundamental human behaviors as care, love, and empathy. Last Friday I mentioned the health concerns for a hospitalized friend. Her short-term concerns have greatly improved, yet the great unknown of her long-term fight lies ahead. However, I am thankful for those who wished her well here. A wrote a short line of concern and many of you impressively reached out. Although many people are selfish, condescending, mean, and even evil, I continue to be thankful for the good people everywhere.

Think about the beauties in nature such as oceans, mountains, and plains – or bees, flowers, pets, and wildlife. I’ve written about the joys of creation and discovery in many posts found in the Religion and Science category. Creation is a beauty thing, especially when we take the time to look. Enjoy this wonderful video … and thank you Nancy for finding this.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone – and a special thanks to those who take the time to visit here. Have a safe holiday weekend.
