On a Cold Monday

Greetings from the changing weather in Cincinnati.

Although we just missed a major snow dump, a blast of bitter cold will grip us through Wednesday morning. After Sunday afternoon’s high of 44 F (6 C), change is happening with Monday’s forecast being a high of 3 F (-15 C) … and that will be in the morning as it will be falling during the day. From there, we are expecting a low of -9 F (-23 C) with wind chills of -30 F (-35 C) with more of the same on Tuesday. No, that is not normal Cincinnati weather!

Anyway, how was your weekend? What did you do? Ours included going to the movies for Saving Mr. Banks (which we enjoyed) and then watching the Hitchcock classic Rear Window at home.

With January being Soup Month, we celebrated with and enjoyed this Italian Wedding Soup recipe from Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa).

After both of my college football teams lost their bowl games, the Cincinnati Bengals keep the longest streak in the NFL of not winning a playoff game continues at 23 years and counting. Cincinnati fans need not to worry because baseball season on the near horizon, and the Reds streak of not winning a playoff series is only 18 years. Oh the agony of it all!

Even though its good to return to the comfort of my normal posting cycle, the recent Exploring series was fun to do. Thanks for the positive feedback.

The final act of Time: The Musical is on the schedule for this week.  Curtain time is 9:30 pm (Eastern US) Wednesday with a Seasons theme.  So, get your songs ready with titles include season(s), fall, autumn, spring, summer, and winter. Beware – those words in compound-word form (such as springtime) are not acceptable.

Celebrations for your calendar!

  • (Week) Somebody-Will-Laugh-About-It Week (ends Wed), Folic Acid Awareness Week, 3-D Week
  • (Mon) Cuddle-Up Day, Thank God It’s Monday Day,
  • (Tues) I’m-Not-Going-to-Take-It-Anymore Day, Fruitcake Toss Day, Tempura Day, Harlem Globetrotter’s Day

Given the winter weather blasting much of the USA, let’s start the week with a wintertime chuckle. Thanks to Guapo for finding this one. Have a good week!

On a Monday Slide

Welcome back from another weekend! What happened at your end?

Yes, we worked some ballroom dance into what was actually a low-key weekend. Although we also attended a holiday dinner gathering of people who will be our new neighbors in a few months.

The holiday blog party was a big success. Thanks to all who attended, and the mingling that was happening was a big treat.

There is one BIG downside of doing that post … and I don’t mean big, but huge! I forgot two regulars here. Because I love both of their blogs and their visits/comments here,  here’s a special treat to White Lady in the Hood and Debra at Bagni di Lucca & Beyond.

Because my holiday posting schedule will be different, here are noteworthy celebrations for the rest of December.

  • (23rd) Festivus, Human Light Day,  Pfeffernuesse Day
  • (24th) Eggnog Day, Last Minute Shoppers Day
  • (25th) No L Day, Pumpkin Pie Day, It’s About Time Week begins
  • (26th) Day of Goodwill Day, Boxing Day, Whiner’s Day, Candy Cane Day, Coffee Percolator Day, Kwanzaa starts, BGSU bowl game
  • (27th) Fruitcake Day, Holocaust Remembrance Day
  • (28th) Chocolate Day, Card-Playing Day, Gone-to-Pot Day, Call-a-Friend Day, UC bowl game
  • (29th) Chocolate Day again, Tick-Tock Day, Pepper Pot Day, Relaxation Day
  • (30th) Bacon Day, Falling Needles Family Fest Day, Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute Day, Bicarbonate of Soda day
  • (31st) One Voice Day, Make Up Your Mind Day, Dice Day, No Interruptions Day, Champagne Day

My posting schedule for remaining time in 2014 will be a bit different. The next post will feature my holiday gifts in videos, so I hope everyone stops by the treats. That post will go live on the 23rd (evening Eastern US) so it will be live for much of Christmas Eve to those ahead of me in time. After Christmas Day, I will have a series of light, enjoyable posts.

Here’s something to start your week. Many have (or will) spend time in malls and/or airports … and escalators is one thing these two venues may have in common. Let’s just say that I don’t recommend trying this.

Have a good rest of the week!

On a Monday Buddy

Another weekend is now part of the past. How was yours? How about your weather?

The snow storm just missed Cincinnati, so we had the misery that goes along with cold rain. However, we had two nights of ballroom in – the second was a wonderful holiday dance at a classic ballroom in the city. On the down side, after six weeks of very little dancing, we were very rusty and amazed how much we forget.

This week appears to be a normal week of posting for me. Two big announcements!

  • Curtain time for Act 11 of Time: The Musical is Wednesday at 9:30 PM (Eastern US) … the theme is Future Time … Song titles with Future in the title or reference to the future. (Creativity opportunity, but “tonight” is not acceptable)
  • A Christmas/Holiday Party will be Saturday – so make sure to plan on stopping by. Invite your friends because you know there will be treats for all!

This week’s celebrations for your calendar

  • (Week) Gluten-Free Baking Week
  • (Mon) Chocolate Covered Anything Day, Posadas begins, Barbie & Barney Backlash Day, Day of Reconciliation, Stupid Toy Day
  • (Tues) Maple Syrup Day, Halcyon Days begins, Saturnatia begins, Free Shipping Day, Wright Brothers Day
  • (Wed) Answer the Phone like Buddy the Elf Day, Wear a Plunger on Your Head Day, Migrants Day, Bake Cookies Day, Flake Appreciation Day, Roast Suckling Pig Day
  • (Thurs) Re-Gifting Day, Oatmeal Muffin Day

Given Wednesday’s celebration, let’s start the week with a Buddy the Elf video. Have a wonderful week.

On Monday Willies

Greetings everyone! How was your weekend? Hopefully an ample combination of safe, sound, productive, and enjoyable.

I hope to return to normal posting this week. Although I wasn’t posting, I found all the comments visitors left regarding my mother-in-law to be special and uplifting. They were so special to me, simply writing “Thank you” isn’t enough.

The funeral was Saturday, and we are confident she would have enjoyed the service, the music, and the sermon. Fortunately, the weather was much better than Friday and Sunday morning.

The delayed act of Time: The Musical is on my docket for Wednesday 9:30 pm (Eastern US), so get your videos featuring videos with song titles that include “time” in the form as a compound word – such as, nighttime, wintertime, dinnertime, etc.

Celebrations for your week.

  • (Week) Human Rights Week, Lager Beer Week
  • (Mon) Weary Willie Day, Eqil Skallagrissom Day, Pastry Day, Apple Pie Day, Shareware Day, Day of the Horse
  • (Tues) Human Rights Day, Lager Day, Dewey Decimal System Day, Nobel Prize Day
  • (Wed) Mountain Day, UNICEF Day, Noodle Ring Day
  • (Thurs) Gingerbread House Day, 12-Hour Fresh Breath Day, Poinsettia Day, Ding-a-Ling Day Ambrosia Day

With Monday honoring Weary Willie, which has nothing to do with my post about baseball’s All-Time Willies, let’s start the week with music by One String Willie. Enjoy … and have a good week.

On a Monday Argument

How was your weekend? For the US audience, did you travel for the holiday weekend? For others, what did you do this past weekend?

Mine was consumed with my mother-in-law in a hospice unit. This is my first encounter with this organization. What a difficult job to do! But a nurse told me that she couldn’t work in a regular hospital, so cheers to those you have that gift. Thanks to everyone who commented on the previous post.

Interestingly, this weekend was my last battle with the leaves. Well, I’m hoping. If not, I’m confident there’s no more than one more session.

Given the family situation, I’m unsure how much I will be able to visit this week, but I will do want I can. Then again, I know bloggers are very understanding.

My current plans involve Time: The Musical returning this week. The upcoming act, Compound Time, features song titles containing a compound word that includes time; such as bedtime, daytime, springtime, etc. Curtain time is Wednesday, 9:30 pm (2130) Eastern US.

Celebrations for this week’s calendar

  • (Week) Cookie Cutter Week, Coelenterates Week, Handwashing Awareness Week
  • (Mon) Mutt Day, Special Education Day, Fritters Day, Coats For Kids Day, Science Fiction Day, Abolition of Slavery Day
  • (Tues) Persons with Disabilities Day, Roof-Over-Your-Head Day, Ice Cream Box Day
  • (Wed) Cookie Day, Dice Day, Special Kids Day, Santa List Day, International Hug Day, Wear Brown Shoes Day, Wildlife Conservation Day
  • (Thurs) Bathtub Party Day, Ninja Day, Blue Jeans Day, Sacher Torte Day

On to the Monday Morning Entertainment to start your week. Given the upcoming Monty Python reunion, that’s a good enough reason to feature this classic clip. Enjoy … and have a good week.
