The month of September was an abnormal month for me in several ways. Through the hectic events, I failed to honor a fellow blogger’s milestone.
I discovered Joe Dempsey when searching for images of the famed Delta Queen riverboat. Since then I found that he is much more than a photographer as each weekly post tells a story – thus I became a regular reader of the Weekly Grist for the Eyes and Mind. Sometime last month he delivered his 100th post.
I not only appreciate Joe’s images, but his approach is to bring us the good things in life that are right in front of each of us. Some are obvious, while others are subtle. He wants us to see more by taking the time to look and engage. Whether in the form of nature, human endeavors, or simply people that you don’t know or suspect, Joe brings out the goodness that surrounds each of us.
I’ve never met Joe, but through his weekly treks through LA … that is Lower Arkansas … I’m sure there is a good guy at the other end. After all, would you doubt anyone who loves a good lunch sandwich from a rural general store or a Moon Pie and RC Cola for a snack?
A belated happy 100th Joe – and here’s a treat you’ll appreciate.
