Ohio is home to several halls of fames, numerous first-class museums, the 
best roller coaster parks, and numerous other vacation stops. While an earlier post focused on festivals in Ohio, this one is about museums. Besides, this, along with last week’s post about festivals, will help a certain Canadian and a New Yorker with their Vacation Ohio planning.
Sure, you could visit Cincinnati’s Museum Center or Freedom Center, Center of Science and Industry (Columbus), United States Air Force Museum (WPAFB, near Dayton), Cleveland’s Museum of Natural History or Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Football Hall of Fame (Canton), National Inventors Hall of Fame (Akron), and other well known museums, this post provides those stops that one may not consider and may not find in the published tour book or at Discover Ohio.

You might want to add Roscoe Village in Coshocton – an “old-time” village with historic building, neat little boutique shops, and frequent 19th century non-military re-enacting. Check out http://www.roscoevillage.com. There’s also a number of good restaurants in the area, and it’s near to a number of Amish community sites including Sugarcreek, often called “Little Switzerland”. as well as a small railway museum in nearby Dennison. And there’s always the canal boats in Coshocton during the summer for a scenic relaxing cruise.

And please tell your Canadian and New York friend, whoever they may be (;), that if they need stuff researched online for their vacation, I’ll be more than happy to put in the footwork (eyework? fingerwork? Wow- that sounds RUDE! :D) finding stuff for them, whatever they need. And I can translate stuff into French, if that helps the female half of your friends – not that I have ANY idea who your friends are. :p

Thanks Mike! Feel free to pile on the additions. I’m not really familiar with Roscoe Village – ever since we moved here from Chicago, we’ve always been in the “suburbs” around Coshocton (if there is such a thing). Now if you’re into Amish stuff, we can line you up pretty much every store, restaurant, tourist trap, and even just plain roadside scenes (like watching horse-drawn plows). We’ve been accepted into the less strict areas of Amish, so we know some places that aren’t even on the map!
And if you need military or air museums ANYWHERE in the country, give me a yell. THAT is my area of expertise! 😀

The Clevelan Art Museum, and Museum of Natural History are awesome…
One of my favorites as a kid was the Wright Patterson, Air Force Base & Museum…Can’t wait to take the Little Beeze there.
