The Story
Meals: The Musical is an original aFa production is about an important aspect of daily life – eating.
Whether a snack, something on the run, a glorious sit-down feast, or something in between and regardless of the time of day, food is a life necessity. There are three aspects to a truly fantastic meal: the food, the occasion, and the company. We know Meals: The Musical is a festive occasion where friends gather to share wonderful music – thus the acts will focus on what the dining friends encounter.
Program (Past Posts)
Act 1: Meals
Act 2: Fruit
Act 3: Side Dishes
Act 4: Meat
Act 5: Ingredients
Act 6: Non-alcoholic Drinks
Act 7: Alcoholic Drinks
Act 8: Desserts
Act 9: Snacks and Leftovers
Act 10: The Mess
The meal is done – the guest are gone – the host is left with the mess. It’s been a grand time but, so much work is necessary to bring order back to the house. This act features songs with the following in the title: fork/forks, knife/knives, spoon/spoons, bowl/bowls, cup/cups, glass/glasses, dish/dishes, pot/pots, pan/pans, and kettle/kettles.
Caution: These items have multiple meaning, so make sure the term is used in proper context. (EX) Heart of Glass (Blondie) is NOT acceptable because “glass” is not in the correct context.
Production Note
To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line). The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video … but I don’t mind unembedding, so apologies are not necessary.
Announcement
Thanks for attending Meals: The Musical. on closing night. The mere sight of the mess can give anyone the blues – so a touch of the blues is here to start the final act. Let’s give a big hand to Albert Collins … and Don’t Go Reaching Across My Plate.
Here’s Louis again, this time doing ‘Mack the Knife’ from Kurt Weill’s, “The Threepenny Opera.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-lHrDPjGfQ

Well here you have Kiss’ “Silver Spoon” which I would recommend you not play just before going to bed — it’s not the nicest song.
But, even though Tim, above, already used it, I’m going to add this video of a shark singing Mack the Knife. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bpF7kkg3v0 . When my Dad died, my brother Bob insisted that Dad wanted “Mack the Knife” played at his funeral. Nobody knew why. It was before YouTube, and it was not a popular song in December/January 2000/01. While we were out shopping for other things, my niece noticed this fish, which, coincidentally, played Mack the Knife. We bought it and presented it to my brother. We could hear my dad howling in our minds’ eye.

Hey everyone … it’s Joanne … she’s a newbee here … so come over to say hello to an Aussie. I’m sure Dale, a designated hostess, who introduce herself and show you are.
I admire your courage of jumping into the fray. The Producer is a very picky, grouchy fellow who has burrs in his shorts. Even though glasses is in the lyrics associated with the title, he acted quickly.
But … I’m the one who comes along to soften his crusty nature, so I’ll give you a song. Here’s an oldie – Blue Plate Special (Freddie Canon) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-itFz6vbRo

Oh dear, Joanne! What a rough entry into this fray. I can tell you the producer can be a most persnickety sort! Why he gave me a buzzer for ice cream (claiming – erroneously, I might add – it was not a fit snack)
Welcome to this group of fabulous misfits!

When it comes to forms of the word (as spoons vs spoonful), The Producer is an unpredictable soul. In this case, he approved. A surprise to me because is didn’t give me his reasoning … then again, he claims he doesn’t have to give me a reason.

Thank you kind producer for your leniency. But, Isadora is a perfectionist and finds herself torn between accepting the free pass and doing better. Here is her ner entry which may be much more accurate.

Although I am the one who writes the posts and replies to comments, The Producer is his own being – maker of his own decisions – yet I am the one who has to deliver his decrees. Yet, The Producer tells me he doesn’t give free passes, and the fact of the mere thought of one makes causes him to scrim in order to rearrange the batch of burrs in his underwear. My suggestion is simple – Don’t try to manipulate or play The Producer because he typically has adverse reactions to such actions. Meanwhile, what a beautiful duet!
