I like walking the beach. It’s good for the mind, body, and soul – and refreshing on my feet.
I see the faces of people I pass during the walk. I believe some people look at the sea and see faces in the water – but I don’t.
On the other hand, the sky is a place for faces. On this day, a full moon is in the daytime sky. Although it is not a bright smile as its nighttime glow, Mr. Moon’s presence is known – yet it can be easily missed. Each of us have memories of that face and how we see it.
Given that it’s daytime, we know Mr. Sun brightly shines to illuminate other faces; but we don’t see its face – yet we value its presence as it warms our face.
The clouds in the sky are always moving and changing. Sometimes they are happy and/or spiritual; other times a menacing evil. Sometimes a distinctive profile; other times an imaginative image as an ultrasound baby.
I think about real human faces – the ones that I pass during my walk and the ones that I’ve encountered through my 65 years. The many faces I’ve seen in malls, crowds, in my classes, during travels, and at any gathering I’ve attended. The faces of different people – the young and the old – the able and the disabled – the men and the women – the faces of different cultures and races.
The faces of different gifts and abilities – the musical, the artistic, the analytical, the athletic, the strong, the generous, the helpers, the kind, and many more.
The faces of smiles and kindness who are willing to embrace everyone. Those whose help lifts the faces of others.
The faces who are willing to share. The faces who truly try to help change the faces of others by helping a variety of needs – these are the faces bringing the shining light of humanity – but so are the kind faces who smile to each other as the pass when walking the beach.
Let’s keep on smilin’ because I like walking the beach as it is good for the body, mind, and soul – and refreshing on my feet.
Wonderful exploration of faces – so creative the way you integrated the theme – and the song was nice – the singer is talented and good message here
– hope you have a great night

Yvette,
Thank you for the kind words. Interestingly, I didn’t know what song to put with this walk, then this one flashed into my mind because its one of my favorite tunes sung by a duo we like to see while at the beach!

I like how you have woven together faces and qualities – I think so often you can see the spirit of a person in their face. When my children were young we used to spend a lot of time cloud gazing and making up stories about what we saw. Once, when one of dogs had died suddenly and unexpectedly on an Easter Friday, my daughter called us all outside to see her as a cloud in the sky on Easter Sunday. That was a rather special event!

Loved this post, I lived my life on the beach and would see profiles in clouds…. and drew human profiles all my life. Now reading you im wondering : isn’t the sky a reflection of the earth? Beautiful, the way you drew that post. Deep, poignant. Will remember this one.

A walk anywhere prompts me to wonder about the ‘story’ behind the faces encountered. What made them wear that outfit, where are they going, who are they meeting, etc. Adding the beach would be like an accompanying symphony I suspect, much like clouds on a summer’s day.

Faces.. fabulous. I’m thinking it’s not just the faces of humans, but also the faces of cats, dogs, cows, mosquitoes and etc. The face of life stares back at me. It sees my face. It sees all faces.
Just opining, Frank, opining. 😀 You stared it. Thank you!

Jo,
Smiles go a long way … just think how you feel when a stranger you encounter just smiles as you pass. Cheers!

What an interesting beach was, Frank. I haven’t really thought about the faces in the clouds since I was a child. I like the way you use the inspiration to consider the people you encounter in your experiences. A walk along the beach and at the ocean’s edge is always good for contemplation. 🙂 I love the photo you used.

Robin,
Thank you. As you know, I believer the majority of the people in the world are good – so I tried to stay with that mantra. As for the song, that was one of our favorites done by a performer we regularly saw.

Unfortunately smiling faces are not as common on the busy streets of New York, Your walks are comforting for us big city folks who are always too busy to stop and admire the sun or a pretty face.,

Drew,
Oh the activity on the busy streets of major cities as NYC, London, Paris, Chicago, and more. Then again, that’s a lot of available people watching … especially because the beach we visit is not very active!

Dear aFrank,
Super song … new group for me. Love that rock-a-billy beat.
Great thought in the words of the song.
SMILING … I do all the time. No sense in being sad. It’s healthier too.
Another great thought-provoking beach walk.
Isadora 😎
ps: it looks like I’ll be missing the musical this week. Cruising the high sea.
Celebrity Equinox will be my home.
Will have a glass of wine for you …. Cheers 🍷🍷

I like that song, too. Didn’t really know it until last winter while on the Alabama coast.
Cheers to your journey on Equinox. That was the ship for our Spain-Portugal cruise several years ago! Enjoy!!!!
