The Story
Welcome to Pronouns 2: The Musical.
Some may ask, “Pronouns?”, but we at A Frank Angle say, “Why not pronouns!”
Why a sequel to Pronouns? Again, “Why not!”
Program
Act 1: My
Act 2: Mine
Act 3: Our
Act 4: Their
Every country can be defined through their food, their music and their language. That’s the soul of a country. (Quincy Jones, musician)
Their kitchen is their shrine, the cook their priest, the table their altar, and their belly their god. (Charles Buck, writer)
Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation. (Oscar Wilde, dramatist)
Countries under foreign command quickly forget their history, their past, their tradition, their national symbols, their way of living, often their own literary language. (Slobodan Milosevic, criminal)
The pride people take in their work transcends to their homes, their education, families and communities. (Leonard Boswell, politician)
People have their complexities. They have their heroic moments and their villainous moments, too. (Ryan Reynolds, actor)
People tend to forget their duties but remember their rights. Indira Gandhi, statesman
Small is the number of people who see with their eyes and think with their minds. (Albert Einstein, scientist)
Guidelines
Songs must have Their in the title
Cautions
- No duplicates songs regardless of artists
- Foreign language equivalents unacceptable
- “They are” (they’re) are unquestionable unacceptable
Production Note
- To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please
- Include the song title and artist in your text, and
- Paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line). The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video … but I don’t mind unembedding, so apologies are not necessary.
Announcement
Welcome to Act 4! Only two more acts left in Pronouns 2: The Musical. We secured a big star for the opener. She’s won 10 Grammy Awards. She’s number 50 on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. She’s number 89 on Rolling Stone’s Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Singing Longing in Their Hearts, she is Bonnie Raitt!
Act 5: Your (next weekend)
Golly Frank – this was hard!! In the end I went with this one from Littlans featuring Peter Doherty – Their Way https://youtu.be/Los5R0tFBNo Better than the nothing I thought I might have to post 🙂

Yes – This is not an easy act! Nonetheless, you came through. I didn’t know the artist or the song, but it works!

Thanks for bailing my sorry butt out. I don’t know why it was so hard, my brain is just not functioning. Maybe it’s too chilly or lack of sleep or focusing on different pronouns. Funny how ‘your’ has a jillion songs! Happy weekend.

No problem because that how I roll here. Yes – this was a hard one after a string of easy ones. The scheduled last act is so hard, I’ll probably change it!

Keep them in mind. Because of the circumstances (and figuring some may already have ITS (as long as they aren’t IT’S), there could be a special exemption rule. Stay tuned!

I wanted to do Dave Brubeck’s “In their Own Sweet Way”, but when I finally found it that was the name of the album. The individual track was : “In your own Sweet Way.” I did, on further exploration come up with this from Handel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnOAKci1ztI “Let us Break their Bonds” This was a rough one!

Gary,
Through Brubeck to Handel … now that’s quite a trip! Definitely easy listening.

Way to go on the research, Gary! Wow… Who’d a thunk Handel would end up in one of these musical acts! Wish I could read music.

I’m going with a song that follows in the folk tradition of protest songs. And a protest song should be sung at a protest. And why not the protest where Martin Luther King expressed his dream. Bob Dylan singing Only A Pawn In Their Game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY2lQV3ADfc.

I have that and on an old Dylan album. Good catch!

Wow … several Bonnie Raitt concerts? Impressive! Knowing your love for musicals, I marked this song on the list for you – from last year’s televised rendition of Jesus Christ Superstar – Heaven On Their Minds (Brandon Victor Dixon) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDJdu8KgCjM

Lawsy I am LATE! Of course, I finished working at 2:30 am, got home at 3, was sleeping by 3:30 till my bleeping dog woke me at 7:45 but my alarm was set for 8:30 as I had a house visit at 9:30! Then I had to bake two fruitcakes and finish my pulled pork and respond to my comments and… phew! It is now 1:33 and I’ve got two hours before I have to leave for work again – shower still not taken.
Excellent choice, dear Frank. Bonnie Rait rocks big time. I have come up with a rather “short titled “Rene and Georgette Magritte with Their Dog After the War” by Simon and Garfunkle 😉 Am surprised no one thought of it! Buahahaha! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=186&v=0vDAubIlYOs
Now, after checking quickly to make sure no one had actually taken this one, I shall go and snoop at each submission and give my two cents’ worth (don’t want to lose my position)

Dale,
I remember you telling me that you would have to work late and the upcoming house visit … so I figured that was the reason for your delay. You have one hectic day! Thanks for working me in. 🙂

So what’s going to happen when you run out of pronouns??
LikeLiked by 1 person
That’s easy – the musical is over. Keep in mind that the original Pronouns: The Musical had 13 acts – but Pronouns 2 is scheduled for 6 (4 down, 2 to go).
When Pronouns 2 ends, the next musical won’t immediately start. There is a break because the theater crew requires time to teardown a set and build a new one. I have an idea for the next one, but I haven’t announced anything.
However, I can say that I have something planned for weekends in 2019 when musicals are not in progress! Announcement probably will be made in two weeks at the closing act for Pronouns 2.
