Whereas some hate – many others love! … But so you know, I based his list on some European leaders in the 1920s-1940s.

Ah ha … the historian is making numerous connections.

Hahaha. It’s hard not to. (And you know how I love connections.) This morning reading about events in France, I was wondering if you-know-who thinks they’re very fine people.

SURPRISE – Actually, I based this off of the European Fascist leaders 1920s-40s.

Jeopardy is both my husband and son’s forte. Certainly not mine, no matter how easy the question. I blame the timer.

Catherine,
LOL … well, now you will have to ask them the question and put the timer on them!

Yes, yes this is true. And they are also quite adept at dressing up the title so’s their minions mellow ain’t harshed by such a mean sounding word.

I know the Fifth Dimension song “Won’t you marry me Bill” song.
But I am not familiar with “That’s true, Bill”

I didn’t get to watch much TV back in the day. I didn’t really start to watch TV on a regular basis until the late ’70s. The Bronx Zoo Yankees on Channel 11.

Solid choice by Manfred. I would LOVE it if he changed his mind as per the first game of the year tradition. I get his need to widen the lens, so to speak, but traditions are what set the game apart. Once upon a time. You CAN have progress while sticking to certain traditions.
And I love that every team will wear the 150 patch in unison on March 28th, that’s very cool.
Great piece, Franks. Thanks for sharing!

Good game! Looking forward to more in future posts. I guessed right thinking you based the list on 1920s-1940s Fascist Leaders, but it scares me to think that supporters of those types of leaders today (one in particular) may understand the connection to your list – and LIKE IT!
Question: Am I right that you stuck in “Championing for the oppressed and disenfranchised” as an opposite meant to shine light on the rest of the list?
LikeLike
Tim,
Not surprised you enjoyed the game and the list. However, I didn’t intentionally include the “championing” point in the list because that is a typical characteristic.

Why does the world accept this kind of leadership (if it can be called leadership)? Haven’t we learned anything from history?

Great point – but saddly, humanity has a difficult time with history. After all, there seems to be a continual presence.

Monika,
For the record, I didn’t create the list based on the now – but did on the past; primarily European history (1920s-40s).

Resa,
Oh no … the list is simply a collective – a list of characteristics of Fascist leaders. At this end, it was interesting to put together.

It’s a haunting and terrifying list, Frank. I would have answered the Jeopardy question correctly, but I had one particular face in my mind’s eye. And it gets more worrisome by the day. 😦

Debra,
