Elton John
The Producer’s Guidelines
- Only performed by Elton John
- No duplicate songs
- Include the song title in your introduction text so others can see it
- To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line) – (I do not mind unembedding, so no apologies are necessary)
One of his early, fast-moving hits – “Bitch Is Back”
Next Concert: Billy Joel (Date, TBA)
Past Concerts (Category): Beatles, Ex-Beatles, Moody Blues, Queen, Neil Diamond, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Carole King
Now I was definitely NOT expecting you to choose this one!!
And how ironic that the next one is Billy Joel as I did see them both in concert years ago.
Now, completely tongue-in-cheek and a huge wink directly to you, I choose Sweet Painted Lady https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up-q544g4sE&feature=player_embedded

Dale,
LOL … I actually considered this one as an opener, but not enough energy … so I planned to give it to either you or Marc IF you didn’t use it. Well played!

A very neat choice, Dale! I forgot about this song. He wrote so many, and nary a bad one.

Hah! You already read it. And commented on it 😉
And then Frank, over on Sorryless’ version of the challenge left his own 74 words which I share here because to find it in the miles of chatter we had on Marc’s blog would take you forever.
The sign read, “Virgin Airways Flight 62 London Heathrow. Although a juvenile delinquent in her youth, she found herself through art. Now, the Painted Lady on her way her first-ever exhibition outside the country. Two hours into the flight, the captain invited her to the cockpit. After hovering over the captain, she took control by grabbing his rudder, which made his head bobble as springy antennae. Weeks later, he discovered he had the clap.

Yes! My first choice was from Don’t Shoot Me (I’m Only The Piano Player) [I won’t mention which one as it’s still early here at the party! ] 😉 ] Loved your choice too!

Marina,
Welcome back. Elton is such a great artist with many classic songs – but ticket sales for this concert have been surprisingly slow. Nonetheless, great choice for a song – and one that is not as well-known. Cheers to a good summer solstice!
LikeLiked by 2 people
Ticket sales are slow because the concert hall was closed for awhile. Things will pick up, and there will be many sell outs!

Remember that I like dark music and music with synths… Yellow Brick Road is by far his best and Funeral For a Friend is the best song on it. https://youtu.be/vqNkMnLD_uE

Trent,
Fabulous addition. It’s more like two songs in one – which makes it so unique. Well done!

Well, bummer, given the no repeat rule, I can’t go with my first choice, which was Bennie and the Jets. I saw him perform in January in Sacramento and he opened with that song and it was just an incredible kickoff to the show.

Benny and the Jets is awesome. It was one of my back-ups if someone had taken my first choice. You know, until recently I thought it was “electric boobs a mohair suit” …
It conjured many led bra visions in my head for many years, very Ice Capades. Anyway, now that I know it’s “electric boots” I see more of a go-go dancer.

LOVE your choice, Frank. My former sister-in-law who was roundly despised by the entire family (and eventually my brother-note the former reference 😈) never understood why we always hummed that song on our family hikes. Can you imagine when we’d all break out in full-throated song in the woods waiting for her to catch up? Thought the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album was one of his best and this cut is taken from it. Harmony. https://youtu.be/Qh123TonnOc. Happy weekend.

First of all, thanks for going with the original – not the cover because The Producer would have had a hissy fit. Link fixed. Another classic song from one of the all-time great LPs.

Well of course! I might not be very good with rules, but I respect ’em nonetheless.
That is a “What I take with me if I’m gonna be stranded on a desert island” LP. Of course, I’d need a turntable. And electricity. And okay a fridge with which to house my adult beverages. Which means, yep . . a kitchen . . a house . . . a patio . . .
Where was I?
