The Guess Who and Friends
The Producer’s Guidelines
Only songs performed by any of the following: The Guess Who, Burton Cummings, Chad Allen, Chad Allen and the Expression, Brave Belt, and Bachman-Turner Overdrive (preferably limited except for Day 2)
- No duplicate songs
- Include the song title in your introduction text so others can see it
- One song per person on Day 1, unlimited on Day 2
- To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line) – (I do not mind unembedding, so no apologies are necessary)
Note: Return on Day 2 to submit more songs without limits. (My typical signal is posting a song for all attendees.)
“Rain Dance”
Next Concert: The Ladies: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, & Julie London James Brown (16th or 23rd November)
Past Concerts (Category): Beatles, Ex-Beatles, Moody Blues, Queen, Neil Diamond, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Elton John, Billy Joel, Crosby Stills Nash & Young (the group), Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Journey, Prince
Well, this is fabulous. Haven’t heard this song in a dog’s age… LOL

Yup. The best of Canadian rock got a lot of airplay.
LikeLiked by 2 people
This is true! Of course, there were some that got over played as if the sensors that be didn’t look past a few bands.

I always thought the late 70’s were the worst for that. They’d overplay the FM rock that was selling south of the border and were ignoring the vibrant punk and alternative scenes.

Oh yeah. I loathe CHOM our ‘classic rock station’ in Montreal, for that very reason. First off, remove the ‘classic’ from your title and play the good stuff that is out there! And just so you know, CHOM peeps? Led Zeeppelin has more than five songs, AC/DC has ore than four, The Stones have more than five, etc… they play the same shite over and over. I had to flush ’em.
I actually am a big fan of CBC Music, to tell the truth. I discovered we have a helluva lot of great music in Canada!

I’m from Winnipeg. I knew Burton. He was a good bit older, but he was always very sweet to me.He took the time to buy me a coke at the Sals (which I believe he owns now)
Winnipeg adores him. He is a hero there. I get it!

I’m sure they are well loved there. I sometimes forget that they are a Canadian band, though the defiantly do not have the British sound. And cheating on my side – growing up, my older brother had a greatest hits album (they are under a bridge or a pier or something on the cover) that he listened to quite often in the late 70s, so that is why I know and love those songs. It was a cassette, so he listened to it in the car….

… cassette…. ah the good old days.
Most people from Winnipeg, even if they were just born, love the Guess Who… esp. Burton. They named a very famous theatre after him. It was the Walker Theatre.
In 1916, Nellie McLung and her gals performed a play there. It was a mock parliament, and men were the underdogs. Women ruled. Women got the vote in Manitoba the next year. Canada the year after.
Now, it is the Burton Cummings Theatre.
