Gloria Estefan
The Producer’s Guidelines
- Only songs performed by Gloria Estefan (Miami Sound Machine with her OK)
- No duplicate songs
- Include the song title in your introduction text so others can see it
- One song per person on Day 1, unlimited on Day 2
- To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line) – (I do not mind unembedding, so no apologies are necessary)
Note: Return on Day 2 to submit more songs without limits. (My typical signal is posting a song for all attendees.)

Really? I show up at 4:30 in the AM and I am first? Holy mackerel. Just got home from work and need a few minutes to bring it down a notch so…I need something a tad slower than her usual stuff… “Here We Are” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wf9DYeePLJY

Dale,
Home from work at 4:30 AM? Yuk … then must have been some party you had to work. I hope you can sleep in this morning. As you will be able to tell from my time stamp, I’ve been caught by surprise. Nonetheless, “Here We Are” is one of her slow big hits.

This is an interesting concert. I absolutely know who Gloria Estevan is, but I can’t thing of any songs. However, I will find one!

Yeah. Yuk. They had the venue until 2 instead of 1 so that just means a later finish. It went quite well and the people were fun (small businesses like dentist offices, engineering firms, etc.)
How have you been caught by surprise? By my chosing a slow hit? 😉

Good morning, Frank. Since I’m married to a man who plays percussion and my youngest son is a drummer, and it’s my birthday, I had to go with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inHwBUo9Pzk … Turn The Beat Around

Robin,
Good morning … and Happy Birthday! I’ve already goofed on one birthday greeting this morning, so I’ve re-read your comment three times to make sure. Cheers to the drummers in your family – and you picked a wonderful upbeat hit for them. Because it’s your birthday … a song for you … “Coming Out of the Dark” … Enjoy … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS7qLDizDYo

Sylvia,
For me, Gloria does wonderful ballads and songs to get one moving. … and this is one of those ballads. Great choice.

Whoa Nelly…loving today’s concert!! If Gloria doesn’t get you up and moving, nothing will. Here’s another snappy, hip-swaying tune to keep your feet moving. “Rhythm is Gonna Get You” https://youtu.be/CZkjeJKBI0M

Monika,
I’m with you about her songs getting one moving. I considered this song for the opener, along with one more, which was the one I wanted to use (then forgot).

I’ll have Gloria tunes as ear worms for most of the weekend. And love every single moment of it. Thanks for a great concert. Not big fan of musicals kind of gal, the next concert may be tough for me. But I’ll certainly do my best and maybe develop an appreciation for amazing talent.

Cincy,
I went with one that drove home that old school vibe. In this case, the music of old Habana, where lyrics weep over the idea that you really can’t go home again. Estefan’s dream was to pen a Spanish language album in honor of her abuelita, who was a poet and taught her the old Cuban songs. Her third album, “Mi Tierra” pays homage to her roots, and it is the song of the same name that I choose for your concert . . .Mi Tierra . .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWAWQmhqWGo .

Marc,
Yea! … I was counting on you doing a throwback to her roots. Love it … actually a good salsa. Back in the day, I found her to be so sexy. Grrrrr …

You know me, Cincy. Imma bring some old school flavor if I got it. And this album did well on the Latin billboard, and it had great play in Spain as well. They love her.

Tell you what, Marco. I came thisclose to using this one at 4:30 this morning then said to myself… something tells me that’s one Marc would choose. So I left it for ya 😉 You might not believe me, but it’s absolutely true. Plus, it gave us a chance to read that wonderful intro to your choice…

AmyRose,
Welcome to your first concert! The only thing you left out was the song title (which I added). You must have done one of the most important things, that is checking the other songs to make sure because The Producer does his thing when a duplicate comes along. 🙂
