The Story
Meals: The Musical is an original aFa production is about an important aspect of daily life – eating.
Whether a snack, something on the run, a glorious sit-down feast, or something in between and regardless of the time of day, food is a life necessity. There are three aspects to a truly fantastic meal: the food, the occasion, and the company. We know Meals: The Musical is a festive occasion where friends gather to share wonderful music – thus the acts will focus on what the dining friends encounter.
Program (Past Posts)
Act 1: Meals
Act 2: Fruit
Act 3: Side Dishes
Act 4: Meat
Act 5: Ingredients
Act 6: Non-alcoholic
Act 7: Alcoholic Drinks
Act 8: Desserts
Act 9: Snacks and Leftovers
The meal is done, but your guests are now enjoying the evening moving about enjoying discussions with others. Some are on the patio, while others in the sitting area. Other course the crowd is near the food and drink.
This act features Snacks and Leftovers.
- Snacks are snacks, so suggestions include (but not limited to) candy, chocolate, cookies, nuts, pizza, popcorn, potato chips, and pretzels.
- Leftovers actually stand of items that have not been part of previous acts; such as seafood, eggs, and others. (Previous acts are listed above)
- Caution: No items from previous acts as fruits, meats, sides, and desserts
Production Note
To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line). The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video … but I don’t mind unembedding, so apologies are not necessary.
Announcement
We at aFa Productions are big fans of this performer, so we couldn’t pass on this opportunity to get him here for the opening act. For those ready to dance or tap those toes, head to the patio for the infamous Louis Jordan with Saturday Night Fish Fry. Enjoy!

I loved this song when I was a teen. I suppose the simple sing along words may have been a factor. Why did woman look so mature (old) during that decade? Mmmmm …. 😁

There’s always cheese left when the table has been deserted isn’t there? I found this on You Tube – and had never heard it before so – for your consideration, Tim Minchen and ‘Cheese’. [He’s an Aussie comedian if you have never heard of him before] https://youtu.be/iNB7b-_sZbs

Well, I think this qualifies as a snack, more than a meal. I tried a Beatles song last time when the category was meat, and you never did budge off of that buzzer. Now I’m going to try John Lennon and “Beef Jerky” for a stab at snack. I don’t consider beef jerky even edible, let alone a meal, so let’s see if this flies as a snack. If it gets the buzzer, I have an even more obscure song to throw out. 🙂 I give you “Beef Jerky,” by John Lennon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwGhldo_b5U

Debra,
The producer still has angst over Rocky Raccoon, Although beef is unquestionably a meat (thus a previous act), he approved this song because beef jerky in itself would be a snack.

I am glad my reasoning was sound! I really don’t like that dreaded buzzer, which was applied the loudest when I mentioned Rocky!.I live in the middle of one of the largest Asian ethnoburbs in the country, and Rocky’s relatives are a well-known main course, legal and illegal. Anthony Bourdain highlighted some of the restaurants, although he definitely did not mention raccoon. What I’ve seen has helped me in my determination to eat a plant-based diet. 🙂
