The Story
Welcome to Pronouns: The Musical.
Some may ask, “Pronouns?”, but we at A Frank Angle say, “Why not pronouns!”
A subset of nouns, pronouns serve as a substitute for nouns and noun phrases. These bits of linguistics and grammar are versatile and can almost refer to anything.
Although pronouns can be personal, objective, possessive, indefinite, relative, intensive, demonstrative, interrogative, reflexive, and reciprocal, this musical extravaganza focuses on selected pronouns.
Program
Act 4: He
“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” (John Muir, naturalist)
“If you want to see the true measure of a man, watch how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” (J. K. Rowling, author)
“Happy is the man who finds a true friend, and far happier is he who finds that true friend in his wife.” (Franz Schubert, composer)
“Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.” (Maria Montessori, educator)
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” (Nelson Mandela, statesman)
“But he that dares not grasp the thorn Should never crave the rose.” (Anne Bronte, novelist)
“One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I’ll never know.” (Groucho Marx, comedian)
Guidelines
Songs must have He in the title
Cautions
No duplicates songs regardless of artists
Foreign language equivalents unacceptable
Contractions are acceptable at the discretion of The Producer
Production Note
To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line). The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video … but I don’t mind unembedding, so apologies are not necessary.
Announcement
Welcome to Act 4 of the latest musical by aFa Productions – Pronouns: The Musical.
This act was a more difficult challenge than the previous acts – but it’s still a worthwhile goal. The opening performer won five Grammy Awards, and the only artist to win four consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance Plus, the opener’s title contains two qualifying terms. Ladies and gentlemen, Singing He Thinks He’ll Keep Her, lets give a strong aFa Production welcome to Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Note: After clicking the video, “Video unavailable” will display … BUT, don’t panic … below that will say, “Watch this video on YouTube” … click it, and a new tab or window will open!
Act 5: Him
I found an old Simon and Garfunkel which I think fits the bill Frank. Still enormously relevant maybe even more so now, over 50 years later. https://youtu.be/Id6kECNeLo8

Yahooey,
One of my favorite things about the musicals are the variety of genres and the exposure I get to different artists. The song and artist are new to me … thanks … and nice ballad!

Dave Van Ronk is an interesting artist. The movie “Inside Llewyn Davis” is partially inspired from his autobiography. He was big in the Greenwich Village folk scene at the same time as Bob Dylan and was known for his knowledge of musical history. “He Was a Friend of Mine” is a traditional song, Dylan did a version and the Byrds adapted the lyrics for JFK.

LOVE … LOVE … LOVE …. George Jones. His heartbreaking songs were – in my opinion – his signature. He was a much better singer when he was sad and under-the-influence. 😉
You beat to it … 😁

Yes – Dale is correct … There needs to be a space between the last character and the start of the link. Easy fix at this end.

Knowing the contraction will require a ruling from The Producer, here’s a recording I really love: Billie Holiday singing “He’s Funny That Way.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRosRTLD1Kw

No. No… you’re good! Contractions are totally allowed… and plus, Billie! Yessiree… love it, Tim.

How can someone not appreciate Billie Holiday. Great choice!!!! … Even The Producer is swaying to the song – and he seldom shows positive emotion.

I’m the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland these days – always late. But I do love your musicals, Frank, so I’m adding my contribution. It’s one of my mother’s favorites – a country classic: He Stopped Loving her Today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYQViYm92hg

With respect to your mother, The Producer gives the thumbs down as it was already used (by Dale).
… but because I have to temper The Producer’s rough manner, I give you a beautiful song … He Won’t Go (Adele) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSuLeZYOv5o
