Journey
The Producer’s Guidelines
- Only songs performed by Journey (no related solo acts)
- No duplicate songs
- Include the song title in your introduction text so others can see it
- One song per person on Day 1; unlimited on Day 2
- To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line) – (I do not mind unembedding, so no apologies are necessary)
Note: Return on Day 2 to submit more songs without limits. (My typical signal is posting a song for all attendees.)
“Separate Ways”
Next Concert: Prince (Saturday 5th October 2019 @ 1:00 AM Eastern US)
Past Concerts (Category): Beatles, Ex-Beatles, Moody Blues, Queen, Neil Diamond, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Elton John, Billy Joel, Crosby Stills Nash & Young (the group), Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley
Yo Cincy . . . I had to drop this classic here because it’s been following me around for days. So I went with the Sopranos sendoff. Don’t Stop Believing. . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k8craCGpgs

It’s a band with a lot of classics, truth be told. But you ever get a song that is begging you to attach it to a post? This was that song for me.
And I can’t believe I beat her! There’s a first for everything, I guess.

Dale,
Can you believe how shocked I was not long ago when I saw that someone beat you out as the first submitter … and Marc was the one! I’m still a bit stunned. Meanwhile, a power ballad on the playlist so early .. and that’s OK. An interesting waltz … a bit too fast for a standard ballroom waltz, yet a tad slow for a Viennese … but it would still work!

It’s all his fault. I was reading his post and my son’s friend arrived and I didn’t hear the notification.

Hola Frank. Hope you are well my friend. Journey had plenty of good songs back in the day. So it wasn’t easy choice for me. My selection? From their 1983 album Frontiers, I picked the song Faithfully. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMD8hBsA-RI
Also have a suggestion. Don’t know if you ever did this type of concert series before, but it may be worth a try. A concert series of questions? Songs with who, where, what. when, why, (and in some cases if and did) in the title. It may be fun.
Have a great weekend.

Drew,
Ah yes … another one from the Power Ballad Era. Great song that reminds me of REO Speedwagon. Nonetheless, a great song!
Good question. That would fall outside the boundaries of the Weekend Concert Series. However, it would unquestionably qualify as a blog musical with each act focusing on a specific word. I can see it now – Questions: The Musical (featuring who, what, when, where, how, and why).

Funny you mention REO. I always connected the two groups for some unexplained reason.
As for Questions: The Musical. I guess we will have to wait for the Producer’s approval.
Have a good weekend. I will get to your other posts.

Oh no … The Producer (notice the capital T) does not have a say on the decision or selections of the productions because he is only involved in the production.

Good morning concert goers-happy weekend. Even though I’m rejuvenating my soul in the high country (yes, the aspens are breathtaking), I didn’t want to miss this concert. Journey was a favorite around my crib in the 80’s. And since I’m feeling soooo good being in the fresh mountain air of Vail, how ’bout a little Lovin’ Touchin’, Squeezin’ https://youtu.be/fTkHFQC3wow

Hello Frank! Your opening song is a Journey song I know, and I quite like it.
I like watching those Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame shows, and I did see the one when Journey was inducted. I couldn’t help but notice Steve Perry was there, on the stage. However, he did not perform. Someone, his replacement in the band (I believe) did the vocals for him. Do you know why? I’ve searched around, but am unsatisfied with answers.
OH, whew, It is a capital T.

Resa,
Glad you enjoyed the opener. Plus, I imagine you know more Journey songs than you realize.
I believe Steve Perry left the band on his own to seek a solo career. The band wanted to stay together. I heard the story how the band was blown away by how much the replacement sounds like Perry. I saw them in concert, and yes – amazingly so.
As for why wasn’t Perry on stage at the induction, I don’t know – but imagine it goes back to the breakup.

The Solo career doesn’t always work out. I think his didn’t.

The band heard Arnel Pineda singing on YouTube and offered him the job. He sounds exactly like Perry, doesn’t he? Yes, Perry left of his own accord. I saw both live and was amazed.
