Meals: The Musical – Act 4: Meats

The Story
Meals: The Musical is an original aFa production is about an important aspect of daily life – eating.

Whether it is snack, something on the run, a glorious sit-down feast, or something in between and regardless of the time of day, food is a life necessity. There are three aspects to a truly fantastic meal: the food, the occasion, and the company. We know Meals: The Musical is a festive occasion where friends gather to share wonderful music – thus the acts will focus on what the dining friends will encounter.

Act 1: Meals
Act 2: Fruit
Act 3: Side Dishes

Act 4: Meat
Many use a meat dishes as the main course, but other incorporate meat into dishes. Then again, some diners prefer meatless. Nonetheless, this act is all about meat, so song titles must include a meat in the title

Producer’s Note: As a guideline, let a typical menu serve as a guide. Menu will include items as sausage, pork, bacon, and ham – but that doesn’t make pig(s) as an acceptable. The producer does not consider seafood or any meat-substitute as  meat.

Production Note
To prevent browsers crashing from loading too many videos, please 1) include the song title and artist in your text, and 2) paste the URL as part of your last line (not a new line). The latter will provide a link, thus not embed the actual video … but I don’t mind unembedding, so apologies are not necessary.

Ladies and gentleman, Frank loves this group and this genre because its toe tapping sound is fun. A big round of applause for Asleep at the Wheel with Ain’t Nobody Here but Us Chickens.

  1. A very entertaining clip, Frank. I also have chicken on the menu with South Africa’s Eve Boswell singing ‘Pickin’ a Chicken’, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SQSysLTDbk
I went to Eve for singing lessons in the late 1970’s, early 80’s. I remember she had a couple of miniature poodles, and was always drinking Rooibos tea with honey and lemon. She had some success as a pop singer in Britain in the 1950’s, and it’s believed that the Bette Davis film ‘All about Eve’ was based on her story.

    • Debra, Debra, Debra … the producer thinks that you are either under the influence of an odd drug that you discovered as a secret stash of a student on campus, or the drought is affecting your brain …. or possibly you are exhausted from working too hard.

I haven’t ever, ever seen Raccoon on a menu … never …. besides, the producer searched your story … and according to the LA Times … that is your local paper of great authority … which stated the health department ordered the market to remove raccoon from the shelves … thus no more Rocky Kabobs.

Therefore, besides receiving the buzzer, the producer is ordering you to listen to this tie to the Fab 4 – Chicken Pot Pie (Weird Al Yankovic) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3JXNut-wO0. … But knowing that I’m much kinder than the the producer, I’m following your Fab 4 lead with Beef Jerky (John Lennon). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwGhldo_b5U … it’s quite the tap-tapping tone.

  2. Hello Frank!
Nice to come back for this. With this challenge I discovered 2 things, one is that if you to YouTube and type “loins” a bunch of videos of lions come up. Good my fellow dyslexic are out there. And second, the first song to come up under “loins” is faul even for me. It’s called Fire in the loins, or maybe it’s lions but I read loins. Anyhow, I found this one better, Ribs by Lorde hope it meats (see what I did there) the criteria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTC4JshmUog

    • Leo,
Oh wow … great info regarding affects of dyslexia. Interestingly, I think the producer would accept loins … nonetheless, Ribs is a great choice. I didn’t know the song … but I liked it!

    • Robin,
I completely understand your comment regarding seafood. The answer is a similar to the tomato dilemma … a biological fruit but not a nutritional fruit, thus a nutritional vegetable. The producer desires a seafood act, but he is concerned with the number of available songs.

Your song selection made me smile .. .and it gave me an opportunity to include a song to accompany your … Pork Chops and Mustard Greens (Ernie Andrews) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XruvqMRidXw 🙂

      • Here it is sunshine and a high of 27C that we have to enjoy because the rains and thunderstorms are to start tonight and the rest of the week will be wet and cool… According to the weatherperson, we won’t get nice until next Sunday! Ah well.. will give me the incentive to work on the inside, I guess…
