April 2, 1977 – that was the day of our wedding in a Cleveland (Ohio) suburb. It was cross-state from my home, but a good group of my family and friends attended.

I graduated the previous June, then came to Cincinnati for my first job. She graduated a few weeks before the wedding, then joined me in Cincinnati after our honeymoon in Hilton Head, SC.

Since then, she knows I love trivia – or in her terms – useless information – this is the perfect post for our celebration – more useless information the number 39 in one place than one ever imagined. Yep – I’m quite the romantic.

  1. Happy Anniversary to you and Ms. Angle! Hope you have a wonderful day of celebration!
I would have been upset if you hadn’t included The 39 Steps–but I had no idea there were so many versions. Here’s one you might not know about, but I know you’re old enough to remember Alistair Cooke. 🙂

    • Audra,
As I mentioned, more than anyone wants to know about the number 39 – but that OK because this salute to the number was about a celebration. 😀 … Thanks for cheers and best wishes!

  2. Pretty incredible write-up – must have taken a lot of research. You should be celebrating with your wife instead! Congratulations, Frank, seriously, that’s wonderful.

My only 39 tidbit is that Coco Laboy wore this jersey for the Expos back when the team started up. Oh so long ago.

      • I just realized that I viewed the earlier, Robert Donat version, probably in the early ’50s. The stagecoach didn’t always reach my little town on time. As a 6 to 10-year-old, it was ‘intriguing’ – one of the better WWII movies floating around. I’d be interested to see how they’ve later adapted it, especially in the 2002 version. ❓

    • Marina,
Thank you. Last week was a whirlwind, but #39 was a good one. For my wife’s first Monday off, we hope to go into the city so she can see (for the first time) the festivities for the start of baseball season. A huge event here. The weather is a little cool, but warm enough.

Many thanks … and belated wishes are always welcome. I’ve got two numbers in my head to research for the months ahead. …. hmmmmmm … Speaking of music, Elyse offered the song that I should have included in the post.

    • Madhu,
My wife is still adjusting, but at least she has spring weather for her initial time … and of course summer around the corner … so warmer weather will help her get into the new rhythm. … Many thanks for the anniversary wishes. 🙂
