Time for the weekend report … how was yours?
Whew … what a different weekend for me. The weather change delivered a dose of the cool and windy side of fall. My wife went out-of-town for a gathering of a group of high school friends, but hey … I kept busy with time on the ballroom, some things in the house, a college football game, and hosting the blog party.
A big thank you to everyone attending my blog celebration for post #1500. Your presence and kind comments warmed my heart … and I especially appreciate knowing that some of you visited other blogs. I estimate another milestone sometime in the next two months, but it will only be noted … after all, hosting a blog party is a lot of work! But, I’m now behind on visiting others. 😦

Carrie,
Special Day organizers come up with quite the assortment … then again … Teddy Bears could use a day at school or at work in order to see what we put up with in a given day.

On our way home after nearly 3 weeks away. I noted this…
“The weather change delivered a dose of the cool and windy side of fall.”
We left Taos Weds. with 26˚ temps. Arrived in northern Oklahoma that afternoon with 97˚. Next day turned cold and windy. Next day, Friday was colder and windier. Saturday and today were really nice.
Home in Iowa tomorrow.

I enjoyed your blog party very much Frank and made a couple of new friends along the way 🙂 You were such a gracious and welcoming hos and I spent a couple of hours wandering about quite happily with various music videos playing in the background.
Wednesday appears to be a full on kind of day for you with the first two mentioned events – but I have no idea what either of those events are – thank heaven for Google. If I really want to know I can look it up. 🙂

Pauline,
I loved the fact that you visited other bloggers that frequent here. But that’s what I like to do, celebrate my event by promoting others. My 1000th post celebration was similar to 1500. You may recall my post about the number 6 with me mentioning my 6th blog anniversary at the end … but here’s what I did for my 5th … https://afrankangle.wordpress.com/2013/08/27/on-tributes/
Regarding the fluffernutter, see this post for my deluxe version. https://afrankangle.wordpress.com/2013/11/25/on-an-afa-deluxe/
I enjoy pierogies, and have added it to today’s grocery list for my celebration. However, on of these days I have to go into the city to get some of these. http://www.cincinnatimagazine.com/forkopolis/babushka-pierogies/
Glad you enjoyed the party music!

That was fun Frank! I really enjoyed your tribute to all your blogging buddies. Blogging is a little like life in general really isn’t it. People come and go throughout our lives, some depart earlier than we feel they should, others can stay too long 🙂 Everyone brings us something and we learn much from each other. I just love it!
I am now also suitably educated on the potential taste-delight joys of both fluffer-mutters and pierogies stuffed with a seemingly endless array of further tastiness. I am indebted to you! And who knows, at some stage I may confound my friends and/or family by producing one or the other.

I also enjoyed your party, Frank, and it’s always nice to see and visit with your many blogging friends! I hope you have a good week following such an active weekend. I am not at all sure what one does for Bullying Prevention Day, but if there was one thing out of all the other recommended points of focus this would be where I would like to place my attention! Maybe I can do some web-searching while enjoying Fluffernutters! 🙂 Sounds good!

Enjoyed the voice recognition skit, Frank. It prompts me to make a confession. I have secretly been experiencing desires to purchase an iPhone, which of course comes with Siri, a tiny woman embedded in the device who talks to you. But here’s the problem. What would I talk to her about?
I already know where I am and where everything else is in my small town of 50,000, so directions are out, and so are restaurant recommendations distilled from the opinions of strangers. Having her prate about the weather is pointless too, since I’m home most of the time and my computer seems insistent on displaying the forecast incessantly, not to mention the window next to my desk. It never lies. News? Until I get to know Siri better and am sure she’s not an NSA agent, I prefer to read it from a variety of sources. (Paranoia runs in my family.)
So, it’s a quandary. There would be socially awkward pauses. Now, if I could count on her to engage and dispose of robo calls, that would be great, but I have no confidence of it. After all, they would be more like her than me. There’s the paranoia again. And there’s no way Siri could resist vicarious peeping at personal texts. I know she would be telling the robo voices about them.
No, I can’t risk it. I can’t risk being sucked into cyber world when there’s so much amusing reality to check out, including people staring at their left hands, bouncing off obstacles, intent faces staring at tiny images. 🙂

Siri would only get you into trouble, Jim. (And how to explain that a small voice in a small rectangular box made you do it….wouldn’t go well..)

I had to Google “Fluffernutter”, and well, it honestly sounds terrible. Now Pierogy day reminds me of my grandmother, and as for Octopus day, I tried it once, and it was not something I need to try again.
My weekend started on Thursday, when I left home for a blogging & social media conference. I did come home a day early (Saturday) because I was in far too much pain from the day long meetings. I did learn quite a bit though, so I am very pleased plus I was able to meet other bloggers I chat with, which was awesome.
That commercial was hilarious, I’ve never seen it. Thanks for giving me my laugh of the day.

Cheers to you attending the conference, but sorry to see that you had to come home early because of the pain. Big time YUK. On the other hand, I can’t believe the conference didn’t attend my party. After all, they could have learned something. 😉
Meanwhile, no octopus for me.
