On a Monday Morning Finale

M.A.S.H had one. So did Seinfeld, Friends, Dallas, Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Fugitive, St. Elsewhere, Newhart, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Did you know that Howdy Doody, Leave It to Beaver, and Route 66 also had them? Because of long presence of Monday Morning Entertainment here, it deserves a series finale!

Although the first Monday Morning Entertainment appeared on January 12, 2009, it didn’t become a regular feature until late August 2009. I designed the feature to start the week on a light-hearted note … and hopefully a laugh and/or a smile.   Now, – post #256 – the finale. To me – through the help of animals, comedians, movie scenes, personal oddities, and more – mission accomplished .. thus a special Thank you to You Tube.

How was your weekend? We had family visiting, but still found time for the ballroom floor, an outstanding piano recital by a young man off to college in the fall to study piano, and work.

On a Memorial Salute

Greetings on this holiday Monday in the USA!

Given the 3-day holiday weekend, I’ve developed this post ahead of schedule. If all goes as planned, our weekend will include two ballroom events, visiting the Cincinnati Museum Center for at least one (maybe two) Omnimax films, a bit of work around the condo, a long walk to town  (and back) for lunch, work, and hopefully some infrequent down time at home. What did you do this weekend?

Meals: The Musical returns this week. I wanted “Seafood” as a theme, but after researching the topic, I’m not convinced about the availability of songs. Therefore, Ingredients is the theme. Think flavors as herbs, spices, extracts, and other common ingredients that aren’t dishes themselves … however, no fruits or vegetables (a previous act) and no chocolate (reserved for later). There is a lot of leeway here, so chose judiciously.

On a Lindy Monday

The weekend is over – but that’s not sad because there are days ahead leading to another weekend – and for we in the USA, next weekend has an extra day. How was your weekend? What did you do?

Ours included two nights of ballroom, errands, dinner with my father-in-law, dinner with friends, work, (while my wife attended a neighborhood car show).

Act 4 of Meals: The Musical provided bacon, barbecue, beef, burgers, cheeseburgers, chicken, chicken wings, hot dogs, meat, meatballs, pork, pork chops, ribs, steak, t-bone, and turkey while including sides as beans, carrots, mustard greens, and potatoes. Meanwhile, I’m researching the next act’s theme.

Cincinnati has been warmer than normal this past week. Fortunately, some cooler (and more normal) weather is on the way for the upcoming week … but the warm temperatures didn’t stop us from enjoying our weekend. How did you spend you weekend?

Our weekend was full with two nights on the ballroom floor (including participating in a Quickstep formation), work, and golf. The Quickstep formation wasn’t a train wreck … a good thing, but I’m glad it’s over. Mother’s Day (Sunday in the US) wasn’t big in our house because we don’t have kids, and our mothers passed away in 1987 (mine) and 2013 (my wife’s). I thought the handbell choir did a good job with Morning Is Broken.

Meals: The Musical returns this week. Meat is the Act 4’s theme, so song titles must include meat(s) or any meat. Use a normal menu as a guideline. For instance, beef, steaks, and hamburger are acceptable, but cows are not. Sausage, ham, and pork are acceptable examples, but pigs are not. Seafood items are not acceptable. The producer is amicable to common sense. Curtain time is Wednesday, 9:30 pm (Eastern US).

To start your week, here’s Sugar Chile Robinson from a 1946 clip, which means Mr. Robinson is currently 76 years old. Enjoy and have a good week.

On Flamenco Monday

Oh wow … Summer-like weather descended on Cincinnati this past weekend – and it appears to continue throughout the upcoming week. How did you spend you weekend?

Our weekend was a small-bit slower than normal because we took it easy Saturday morning and early afternoon. Then again, we still had ballroom time, Quick Step formation practice, ushered at the Playhouse (Vania and Sonia and Masha and Spike), and I worked a shift.

The play was entertaining because a comedy with dysfunctional family members works. It could have been a bit shorter, but we enjoyed it … and given that we ushered, it was free. Here’s what is written on Wikipedia about the play, and take note of the original actors.

It’s possible that one of the posts this week will be something new – something I’ve never done before – believe it or not, writing fiction – but, I seriously doubt this will be a regular endeavor. We’ll see how the week goes.
