Another weekend has come and gone. How was yours? What was your memorable event of the weekend?
Because Saturday was a full day, we strolled onto the ballroom floor Friday night – thus Saturday we spent the day at the Handbell Musicians of America conference (which included a good concert), and then attended a barbecue party hosted by friends.
Sunday was a low-key day. I enjoyed watching The (British) Open and its crazy ending. Also on Sunday, a homegrown kid who grew up to play for the hometown team was inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Cheers to Cincinnati Reds great, Barry Larkin.
Your Monday Morning Entertainment is from the Sesame Street vault of fun moments. Enjoy the Martians and the radio – and a special shout-out to Madame Weebles, who (not long ago) shared this video with her readers. Have a good week.
Love the Sesame Street Clip. Sesame Street has an appeal to all ages. Great that you were able to dance on Friday night. Now when will you show a clip of that??? xx

Not much unusual on the home front, except having the wife home both days, a welcome deviation from normal. Had to attack grass and weeds for the first time in weeks – why is it that the same plant will grow where it’s considered a weed, and die where it’s desired? Somebody REALLY needs to look into that!
On a far more serious and somber note, you might want to Google “Paws And Stripes United Airlines”. Seems a couple of United ticket agents in Dulles airport were rather rough on a PTSD-riddled vet AND his service dog. The only thing worse than the event were the number of trolls out on United’s Facebook page, yelling at and chastising people for simply expressing their views. I had hoped UA had changed after my (VERY) brief stint with their subsidiary COVIA back in the late 80s, but if they have, it’s for the worse.
Okay, okay, enough heavy stuff dropped this weekend. Let’s look forward to a happy week, what with a good Neptunalia for you ancient Romans on Monday, and the Olympic opening ceremonies on Friday! PAR-TAY! 😀

John,
The Paws and Stripes story is the ridiculous side of human behavior. Sad – but thanks for bringing to my attention. Meanwhile, good luck with the weeds. As for the Olympic’s Opening Ceremonies, I’m sure the Brits will do it right. After all, they love celebratory pomp! Happy Neptunalia to you as well. Thanks for sharing.

Saw my son play with his band on Saturday – first time I was “allowed” to see the band — it was at a biker trailer park – my son deemed it safe enough for me,and it was – I call him my rock god – he just sighs
My husband said we stuck out like a sore thumb –we are a bit preppy

Big ups to Barry Larkin! And big ups to Ernie Els too for not collapsing like everyone else did.

Enjoyed the golf too. Not sure whether Ells won or Scott lost but it just proves again that nothing is ever over til it’s over.

Fasab,
Scott was so steady most of the day, and then it started to unravel. I feel for him as it seems he’s a good guy. Great to see Els win though! Thanks for commenting.

Although most of my weekend was inside, being in Central Park on a nice day is a pleasure in itself. We did have a wonderful lunch on Cincinnati’s Fountain Square before the humidity crowded its way into the day. Thanks for sharing.

Um .. totally unrelated question here, Frank. Any sign of our fair lady from the great white north? I don’t recall having seen her commenting here lately – though with the crappy quality of my Internet since that major power outage, I haven’t been as thorough reading through all responses.
